Rob The Barbarian

Baxter To Skipper Barbarians

Long-serving Exeter Chiefs skipper Rob Baxter has been named as captain of the Barbarians against the Portuguese national side in Lisbon this Thursday. (KO 5.00p.m.)

Baxter, who will be making his seventh appearance for the Barbarians, will lead a side where he is the only player without international honours and which includes players like Trevor Leota and Paul Volley of English and European Champions Wasps, South Africa’s Bobby Sknistad and Wales & British Lion, Daffydd James.

Rob’s father and Exeter Chiefs’ Director John Baxter said: “This is an intensely proud moment not only for my family but also for Exeter Chiefs. Few people can say they captained the Barbarians but Rob’s contribution to the game in the West Country has been immense. He is now at the peak of his career and those people who really know my son will know just how well-deserved an accolade this is.”
